What You Should Do While The Movers Work

When you are moving from one location to another, one of the best ways to reduce the stress of the actual move is by hiring a team of movers. Professional movers will come to your home, move up all of your boxes and furniture, put them inside of a truck or van, and take them to your new home. During this process, you will want to be present, but not in the way. You can take specific actions to make the moving process easier on your moving team.

Stick to Agreed Upon Moving Inventory

When you hire a moving company, they will come to your home and do an assessment. They will figure out how many boxes you must move, the type and quantity of furniture, and the more oversized items you must move. This allows the moving company to bring the right number of workers and equipment for your job.

Don't go out and purchase a new couch or new furniture, and add to the inventory without talking to your moving company first. They budget for workers, space, and equipment to get your job done right; so, don't throw in any surprises regarding what they have to move on moving day.

Stay Out of the Way

Trust the moving team that you hired to move your items. Don't stand in the middle of your home, dictating what they should move and how to move it. Trust in the professionals you hired to know how to move your items.

What you can do before moving day is ensure that you properly package up all your stuff and that you put the correct labels on everything so that your movers will know just by looking at the box if it is fragile or if it is extra heavy and needs extra care given to it. Your labels should tell them everything they need to know about how to move your things.

However, that doesn't mean that you should leave the premises. You should be present in case they have any questions or concerns. You should always have an adult present at the home where the movers are.

Provide Refreshments

Moving is a physically demanding job, even for experts. That is why it is nice of you to offer refreshments for your movers. Put a cooler near the front door or on the kitchen counters, and let the movers know that you have drinks or light refreshments in the cooler for them. Being able to grab a drink or a snack quickly can help your movers get the job done in an efficient manner and let them know that they are appreciated.

Be Ready to Pay

Many moving companies will not require payment until the job is complete. Be sure that you have your payment method accessible and ready, so you will be able to pay once the move is complete. You may also want to have some cash on hand to tip your movers with.

Call a moving company in your area to get a quote on your move.

About Me

Storing Baby Items Safely After we had our last child, I wasn't sure I wanted to have any more kids. We decided to move all of our baby items into storage, but just to be safe in the event we changed our minds, we exercised extreme caution when we packed things away. We wrapped furniture carefully and did everything we could to keep clothes in great condition, and within a few months things really changed for us. We decided that we did want another baby, so we ended up moving things out of storage and back into our homes. Read this website for great tips on storing items carefully.
